This was originally a photo of 5 candles I took while on vacation in Korea. I later used this photo in my photography class and embellished it with gold leaf and gold embossing. I submitted this piece to Farris Foundation’s event called “Threads of Gold”, hence the gold theme. This organization was made to spread awareness of childhood cancer, and the reason I chose to do this piece was because candles are a symbol of hope, and by adding gold accents I could combine hope with the gold theme. Along with my submission was a more detailed description of my piece, basically explaining that the main message behind my piece was to wish good health for my family, and it ended up being one of the featured works.
